Protan AS
Protan is a Norwegian family-owned company with long traditions. From the establishment in 1939 Protan has grown to become a major international manufacturer of PVC membrane with more than 800 employees and a sale of 145 Million EUR. The Protan Group holds manufacturing facilities all from raw material through to final assembled products; weaving of textile, PVC-coating, final assembling and installation of membrane based products. The annually delivered volume of PVC membrane exceeded 11,5 Million sqm in 2008. Protan is certified in accordance with the quality assurance standard ISO 9001 and the Environmental Management Systems according to ISO 14001.
Most of Protan’s products are exported (60%) and the exported goods are distributed to more than 40 countries. The product portfolio of Protan consists of three major divisions; Single Ply Roofing membranes, Technical Textile solutions (subcontractor for membrane solutions) and Ventiflex® (ventilation system suitable for tunnels and other underground applications).
The Technical Textile division of Protan has an announced and distinct focus on clean fresh water as well as storage and distribution systems for fresh water. The fundament of the business herein is the technology of reverse osmosis - where raw seawater is converted into clean fresh water- and the traditional purification technology (sand, active coal, chlorine). Based on these water cleaning units, the business of water storage and distribution equipment is formed and involves products that range from large scale stationary water reservoirs through mobile collapsible water bags.
Protan’s primary products for clean fresh water supply and water handling equipment are:
Water cleaning
- Reverse osmosis units in customized scales and capacities.
- Traditional purification units. Filtering units with sand, active coal, chlorine.
Both concepts come as containerized units alternatively as smaller units installed on small trailers or skids.
Water storage and distribution systems
- Stationary reservoirs. Constructed in concrete or metal segments with a lining of PVC-membrane.
- PVC-lining for restoration of existing concrete or metal reservoirs.
- Collapsible onion tanks in self-supporting constructions.
- Collapsible truck tanks in sizes from 3 cum through 7,5 cum.
- Collapsible pillow tanks in sizes up till 50 cum.
- Distributions ramps. Tap stands with 6 individual taps per stand.
